INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The identity has been released in the fatal crash between a car and a semitrailer Monday around 3 p.m., according to Florida Highway Patrol.
Andrew Schmeer, 26, of Vero Beach, was pronounced dead on the scene when he crossed over from the eastbound lanes to the westbound lanes colliding with Henry Lewis II, 52, of Lakeland, according to FHP. Schmeer was heading westbound at the time of the crash in a semitrailer.
Schmeer was ejected from the vehicle, according to FHP. It is not known if he was wearing a seatbelt. Lewis was not injured.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, charges are pending.

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Traffic is being detoured around a fatal crash at State Road 60 and County Road 512, according to authorities.
According to Indian River Fire Rescue spokesman Asst. Fire Chief Brian Burkeen, the collision was between a semitrailer and a car.
Burkeen confirmed one person died in the crash. The drivers involved have not been identified. Whether there were passengers involved was not immediately released.
Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area.
