INDIAN RIVER COUNTY – A Vero Beach man is in jail after authorities say he attacked his pregnant girlfriend and fired a gun inside their home.
Brian Francis Brezinski, 34, of Vero Beach, was arrested and is being held on $100,000 bond.
Authorities responded to a disturbance late Sunday night and were told by witnesses that they saw Brezinski choking, hitting, and pulling the hair of his girlfriend, the victim, who is 36 weeks pregnant with Brezinski’s child, according to the arrest affidavit.
After the physical altercation between Brezinski and the victim, which was described as taking place outside, Brezinski proceeded inside the residence and fired at least one shot with a .40 caliber Glock.
According to the official police report, two adults stated they were standing only a few feet away from Brezinski when he fired the shots. Children were also present in the residence.
Following the first shot, Brezinski reportedly held the barrel of the gun a few inches away from a second victim’s forehead and threatened to take his life.
Police recovered a Glock .40 caliber semi-automatic pistol with a laser and arrested Brezinski at the scene.
Brezinski currently faces felony charges of aggravated battery on a pregnant woman and felony aggravated assault.
