Robert Lankering, 81, died Dec. 5, 2012, at the VNA Hospice House.
He was born in Paterson, N.J., and lived in Vero Beach since 1990, coming from Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
He served in the Air Force.
Before retirement, he worked as an engineer for the IBM company for 25 years.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Irene Lankering; sons, Tom Lankering, of Colorado and Jim Lankering, of New York; daughters, Cathy Cheney, of Pennsylvania, Phyllis Tate, of Vermont, Jane Thompson, of Ohio and Sue Lankering, of Delaware; and 10 grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Cross Catholic Church, 500 Iris Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32963.
No services are planned at this time.
