YSF – Triple Play Brings Three Housing Units to the Homeless Community

A casual conversation over coffee with YSF donor Jody Miller started the ball rolling that resulted in a  home run for the homeless community. Mr. Miller mentioned to YSF’s Stu Keiller that he had three  living units in his real estate inventory that he wanted to donate to provide housing to underserved  families. Keiller turned to Hannah Hite, Executive Director of the Homeless Children’s Foundation  (HCF). YSF and HCF have a long history of collaboration, introducing sailing to homeless children and  providing transportation to other programs. Hannah turned to Tony Zorbaugh, Executive Director of  The Source, as the expert in managing housing units for the underserved. The around-the-horn triple play has resulted in The Source receiving three renovated living units located in central Vero Beach.

Tony remarked, “This is collaboration at its best, bringing together three non-profits with very different  core missions to provide three beautiful housing units to our community. Through the generosity of  YSF’s patron Jody Miller and the help of the HCF, we have three new housing units that are perfect for  helping families get out of homelessness. We will work together to identify three families that desperately need housing security and help move them into their new homes. Priority will be given to  Homeless Children’s clients who have children in YSF’s sailing programs.” Hannah said, “We are thrilled  to help facilitate this transaction that will benefit our underserved community for generations to come.”

“Jody’s entrepreneurial spirit and creativity came shining through in this deal,” said Stu Keiller. “The  transaction with a value of over $500,000 was completed in less than six weeks, with three families soon  to be enjoying the generosity of Jody Miller in secure housing managed by The Source with HCF vetting  and facilitating the move-in of deserving families.”
