It won a Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award, was made into a movie (twice) and later a Broadway musical. It is one of the five most re-read books in America. It’s also among the most frequently “challenged” books of the past 35 years, according to the American Library Association.

Dr. Angie Bailey, Professor in the School of Business, Indian River State College, will review The Color Purple, by Alice Walker, at the Book Review Breakfast at 9:30am Monday, Feb. 3, in the Richardson Center of Indian River State College in Vero Beach. The Book Review Breakfast is sponsored by the American Association of University Women.
