Signature Events at Save the Chimps

Each year, Save the Chimps opens its gates for a select number of unforgettable experiences. These signature events offer rare access to our 150-acre sanctuary and the 12 island homes of nearly 220 rescued chimpanzees.

Celebrate the season with our once-a-year sanctuary tour. Watch the chimps unwrap gifts, gather by a festive tree, and enjoy their island homes. The party begins early because festivities happen right after breakfast—when the chimps are released onto their islands and most active.

For the first time ever, Save the Chimps will open its gates for a historic gala at the sanctuary. This extraordinary evening will celebrate 25 years since the rescue of the first 21 chimpanzees — and look ahead to a bold future for nearly 220 chimpanzees who now call the sanctuary home.

April 18, 2026: Member Day
Tours every half hour between 11:00 am 1:30pm, $75 pp; $35 children (13 and under)
One of the only days our gates open to the public, Member Day offers a rare chance to step inside the sanctuary for a guided tour past all 12 islands. Hear stories from expert staff and witness the close-knit family groups living freely on their island homes — and what it takes to provide lifelong care for the world’s largest privately-funded chimpanzee sanctuary.

100% of proceeds support the lifelong care of nearly 200 rescued chimpanzees
