Tanned skimmers came out in full force, dotting the shoreline of Sexton Plaza during the annual Skim Jam, hosted by Shore lb. and sponsored by Mulligan’s Beach House. The annual event, billed as the world’s largest one-day skim contest, draws board enthusiasts from across the country, and occasionally the world, to test their skills in categories including Beginner, I’m Good, I’m Better, I’m Going Pro and Professional.
Off the waves, the weekend included a Shore lb. Extreme Film Fest, with submissions showcasing short videos of the best tricks caught on film, yoga on the beach, and a dunk tank. The day concluded at Walking Tree Brewery, where an awards ceremony honored the event’s winners and crowned the overall Triple Crown champion. Beer fans got the first taste of Walking Tree’s Beach Beer Fruited Lager with mango and orange.
Proceeds support Little Board Riders, a local nonprofit that empowers children by providing camps, and the equipment and resources needed to explore water sports. Utilizing such activities as surfing, paddleboarding and skimboarding, the organization helps build confidence, promote physical activity, and foster a deep appreciation for our oceans and waterways.
