School district of Indian River County increases state ranking.

Vero Beach, FL, July 7, 2022– Individual Florida School and District Grades were released today by the Florida Department of Education.

District Grades

  • Regarding our district grade, our district earned a “B” and maintained the percentage of points earned when compared to the 18-19 school year. Maintaining the percentage of points earned has resulted in an improvement in our School District of Indian River County (SDIRC) state ranking of 38 in 2018- 2019 school year to 22 in the 2021-2022 school year.

  • Regarding our district maintaining the percentage of points earned when compared to 2018-2019 school year, our district is one (1) of nine (9) districts who maintained the percentage of points earned, while only six (6) other districts increased their district percentage of points earned.

  • When compared to surrounding districts (i.e., Brevard, Okeechobee, St. Lucie, Martin), our district was the only district to maintain the percentage of points earned when compared to the 2018-2019 school year.

  • Of surrounding districts, both Indian River County and St. Lucie County maintained a district grade of “B,” while Brevard, Okeechobee, and Martin Counties all dropped one (1) letter grade when compared to the 2018-2019 school year.

    • For the current school year, four (4) non-charter elementary schools (Beachland Elementary, Liberty Magnet, Osceola Magnet, and Rosewood Magnet) earned an “A.”
    • Osceola Magnet School’s percentage of total points earned on spring assessments was in the top 6% of elementary schools in the State.
    • Fellsmere Elementary, Indian River Academy, Sebastian Elementary, Storm Grove Middle School, and Treasure Coast Elementary all increased one letter grade (i.e., from a “C” to a “B”) when compared to the 18-19 school year.

Superintendent of Schools, Dr. David K. Moore, stated, “These results are a clear indication of the unwavering commitment of our administrators, teachers, support staff, and families. While there is much good work to still do, today’s results serve as a true inspiration of the positive impact that SDIRC has had on the students of our community.”
