HALO helps a puppy get a second chance

SEBASTIAN — Meet Princess, a puppy signed over to die because of a broken elbow that her owners did not want to pay to fix. After receiving a call from a vet tech at Florida Veterinary League reaching out for a rescue to take the puppy, we just couldn’t say no.

She was taken to a specialist, and they needed to operate quickly. It took two surgeons half the day to perform her surgery; one plate and multiple pins were used.

The surgery would have normally been several thousand dollars, but as a rescue, HALO was able to negotiate a substantial discount on her surgery. It was crucial to get to a specialist so that the bone and muscle would be healed while her body continues to grow.

Her surgery cost us $1,600 with our discount. Her bills are not over, however, as she continues her rehab and appointments to handle her growth. We are seeking sponsors to help us with Princess’s medical expenses.

We are so happy and proud to have given this baby a second chance at life.

The doctors will continue to monitor her progress as she grows and, hopefully, the pins will be removed when the bone has healed. Her foster mom reports that she is recuperating and just wants to play and be loved, like any other puppy.
