Ongoing through May 2012

To combat rising tuition costs and decreasing household incomes, savings and state aid, this 7-month campaign seeks to fund new “Golden Scholarships” to be awarded at this year’s Dollars for Scholars’ Annual Awards Ceremony in May 2012.

This Treasure Hunt is inspired by a gift to the organization of gold coins and jewelry by a Board member. Following her lead, several other Board members responded to a first call for donations with pieces of their own gold and silver treasure. These initial efforts raised over $2,500 toward “Golden Scholarships”.

Dollars for Scholars offers more than financial support to scores of recipients each year, thanks to the generosity of our donors; we also provide the hope and encouragement essential for our recipients’ success. Since 1965, Dollars for Scholars has awarded $7.6 million dollars in need-based scholarships to 2,541 Indian River County students.

We urge all to seize this “Golden Opportunity” to help Indian River County students realize their college dreams. With your help, we will build a stronger community – one student at a time – through education.
