Janet Sullivan Tellier, 72, of Vero Beach, died on Sept. 5, 2011, surrounded by her husband and her daughters.
She was born in Staten Island, N.Y., to Patrick and Agatha Sullivan on August 27, 1939, and was raised in Scarsdale, N.Y., with her sister, Ann Sullivan Kilfoil of Ft. Wayne, Ind.
The spirit in which Janet lived her life and the courage she showed while living with pancreatic cancer will continue as an inspiration to her family and her so many dear friends.
In 1961, she married Francis Joseph Tellier of Rye, New York.
They settled in Mamaroneck, New York where they raised their three daughters, Susan Tellier Perticone, of Darien, Conn., Nancy Tellier Vandervelde, of Wellesley, Mass., and Sheila Tellier Nottebohm, of Darien, Conn.
Tellier adored her ten grandchildren Lacey, Lexie, Hollis, and Isabelle Perticone; Murphy, Jack, and Sophie Vandervelde; Johann, Annabel, and Fritz Nottebohm.
Tellier was a graduate of the Ursuline School in New Rochelle, N.Y., and Manhattanville College in Purchase, N.Y.
She was a member of Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck, N.Y., and The Manursing Island Club in Rye, N.Y.
In 1980, she fulfilled her dream of owning her own business when Janet opened The Chocolate Lady, a gourmet chocolate store, in Greenwich, Conn.
In 2006, Tellier moved to Vero Beach.
She was a parishioner of Holy Cross Church, and a volunteer at the Hospice House in Vero Beach.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, friends may consider a memorial donation in Tellier’s memory to the VNA Foundation and Hospice, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960.
A memorial mass will be held at Saint Mary Parish Greenwich, Connecticut on Sept. 16, 2011, at 10.
A reception will follow at the Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck, New York.
